Two careers ended this weekend. Middle School English Teacher Sally Stanton (top picture) and cafeteria worker Kathy Short retired this year and there was a retirement party on Friday. On Saturday, the 2008 Graduating Class had their commencement.

Faculty members meet to discuss calendar dates for the 2008-2009 school year.

Middle school students who wanted to delay their summer one day too a field trip to Minerva to engage in a brain development presentation, problem solving, Jeopardy, field games and geocaching. Students here are receiving instruction on using a GPS.

Heath and Phys. Ed. Instructor Ms. Curry was up bright and early on Tuesday to set up the field for the elementary field day activities. Monday’s rain caused a need to rescheduled the event to Tuesday.

It’s the last week of school for the elementary students and high schools taking regents. That includes rainy days.

Eighth Grade Continuation middle school awards were handed out — highlighting both academic and sports achievements.

Eighth Grade Continuation took place on Friday. The event marks the end of middle school and the beginning of high school.

Passing Eighth graders have a continuation ceremony, much like the senior graduation. The week up to the event includes speech writing and rehearsals. Continuation includes awards and performances by the school band.

Heritage week continues, on Friday the students learned about games from long ago, like tiddly winks, marbles and pick up sticks.

Storyteller Jeanine Laverty was telling stories in the library — and captivating young minds.

Monday was the Science Fair Day for the middle school. The judging took place in the morning, with awards at the end of the day.

The Athletic Banquet was last week, honoring the dedication of the students who participated in varsity sports for the 2007-2008 school year.

At the end of the school year students in grades K-5 have Heritage Week, which is a celebration of the history of the Indian Lake area. Students are shown hear learning about a Cake Walk.

The end of the year brings on testing — both finals and regents. Doors are closed and signs are home in to get a quiet environment of the students.

Ms. Stanton — Middle School English Teacher — is retiring after 30+ years. There was a surprise goodbye rally for her on Friday. Mr. Snide spoke during the assembly.

A group of ILCS employees —- and friends and family of employees —- participated in the Freihofer’s Run for Women.

Indian Lake Central School has five new National Honor Society Members. They were inducted on Thursday, May 29, 2008.

Parents of fifth grade students met with the middle school team to discuss the children moving into the ILCS middle school. The parents and a few students toured the middle school lockers. A few of the parents were once students themselves. . . not to long ago.

ILCS sent a team to the NYS Environthon. On the bus ride (three hours) to Cobleskill the team worked on their oral presentation.
